The 2022 Mazda CX-5 seats five and is available in five trim levels, listed as Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, Turbo and Turbo Signature. Under the hood sits a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that put out a solid 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque. This engine is connected to a six-speed automatic gearbox. A turbocharged 2.5-liter engine is available. It puts out 227 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque and is also mated to the six-speed automatic gearbox.

The 2021 Mazda CX-5 gets a long list of standard features, even in the base Sport trim. Standard equipment includes 17-inch alloys, cloth upholstery, a steering wheel wrapped in leather, automatic LED headlights, keyless entry and ignition, and rain-sensing wipers. Also standard is a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, voice commands and two USB ports.
The CX-5 also comes with standard driver assistance features that include automatic high beams, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, rear cross-traffic alert and blind-spot monitoring.
We don’t have test results from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) as of this writing. But the 2021 Mazda CX-5 received the organization’s best safety rating. The CX-5 was named a Top Safety Pick+, with the best score of Good in all crash tests. The 2022 model should receive identical marks.
